President Donald Trump announced on August 4 that he welcomed Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, to the Oval Office and asked her to run for the U.S. Senate in the special Republican primary on August 11, 2026. According to a post on X, Trump stated that Nordone, from South Carolina, accepted the request to honor her brother's legacy.

Trump described Nordone as a "spectacular person" and a "true American Patriot," and offered his "Complete and Total Endorsement" in the special election. He noted that Nordone comes from an "absolutely incredible family" and has been a "WINNER" all her life. The President emphasized that she "will never let you down."

Lindsey Graham, who served as a U.S. Senator from South Carolina, was praised by Trump as "one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known." Nordone's appointment to the Senate seat, if elected, would continue her brother's service to the state and country.
