Trump: Reflecting Pool damage was pure vandalism

Trump's Truth Social latest posts08-02

President Donald Trump on August 1 rejected a characterization of damage to the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., as a contractor mishap, instead labeling it a clear act of vandalism.

"I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don’t know what she was thinking? To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM, that included the grass, which had a big 86 47 emblazoned in giant letters on it, and other elements of the surrounding area," Trump wrote on X. He added, "There may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by VANDALS!"

The President's remarks came after Pirro, a former federal prosecutor, had reportedly offered a different explanation for the incident. Trump did not provide further details on what specific damage occurred or who might be responsible for the vandalism.
