Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products Subsidiary Wins Marketing Authorization for Weight Loss Drug

Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products (SHE:300122) subsidiary Chongqing Chen'an Biopharmaceutical received marketing authorization from China's National Medical Products Administration for its semaglutide injection, according to a Tuesday after-hours filing with the Shenzhen bourse.
The drug, developed as a biosimilar, is indicated for blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes patients, the filing said.
Phase 3 trial data showed its version of semaglutide shares clinical efficacy and safety with the original drug Ozempic, the filing said.
Shares in the drug company fell 2% during afternoon trading on Wednesday.
