U.S. President Donald Trump announced on social media platform X on September 17 that significant progress has been made toward establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland, thanks to the leadership of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, with the location to be announced soon.
"GREAT NEWS! Thanks to the bold leadership of my friend, Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, major progress is being made toward establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland. If this happens, the location will be announced very soon. This will be a historic step for our Great U.S./Polish Alliance. Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump wrote.
Trump did not disclose specific details about the base's location, timeline, size, or troop numbers. The Polish government has previously expressed willingness to share construction costs and has long sought a permanent U.S. military presence to bolster NATO's eastern flank. If realized, the base would become one of the newest U.S. military installations in Europe.
