President Donald Trump said on October 1 that he met with Lee Jae Myung, President of the Republic of Korea, in New York and they agreed to launch $200 billion in new investments in the United States. The projects are part of the $350 billion Korea Strategic Trade and Investment Deal Trump reached with President Myung last year, turning commitments into construction projects and tens of thousands of American jobs.
Trump announced three key projects: a $120 billion nuclear power program to build eight large-scale reactors in the U.S., including six Westinghouse AP1000 reactors and two Korean APR-1400 reactors; a $50 billion Alaska LNG project to unlock the state's resources and create new gas infrastructure; and a $22 billion, 6.4-gigawatt natural gas-fired power project in Encinal, Texas. Trump stated these initiatives will enhance American energy security, manufacturing, and employment, supporting trillions of dollars in investments under his administration.
