President Donald Trump announced on October 1 via social platform X the nomination of Brian Meyers to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Trump stated: "I am pleased to announce the nomination of Brian Meyers to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina!" Meyers currently serves as a Magistrate Judge on that same court. He previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for more than a decade in the Eastern District of North Carolina and as an attorney in the U.S. Marine Corps. Meyers graduated from Davidson College, where he starred on the varsity baseball team, and the University of Richmond School of Law. Before earning his law degree, he worked for the late Senator Jesse Helms.
Trump noted that Meyers has the strong support of both North Carolina Senators, Ted Budd and Thom Tillis, as well as Republican Senate candidate and former RNC Chair Michael Whatley. "Brian will continue to strongly protect and defend the Constitution on the Federal Bench," Trump said. The nomination requires Senate confirmation.
