Many investors who are low on cash and highly exposed to stocks feel demoralized by the falling prices. To regain control, investors need to differentiate between companies that will recover in the long term and those that will not. The stocks to buy and hold are those where the company is financially sound. In addition, financially sound businesses will have manageable debt. They are also typically companies that did not list on public markets within the last two years. Those more newly public companies likely sold their stock at unsustainable valuations.Source: StockRoverIn the table at right, you can see the strong quality scores from many of my picks for this gallery.Stock Rover definesvalue using metrics like price-to-earnings and price-to-sales.Investors should avoid companies that sold stock to pay bills or that reward management with excess stock-based compensation. In contrast, the stocks to buy and hold are companies that have steady or improving fundamentals. Markets will reward them by sending their price higher.Long-term investors in a bear market cannot time a stock’s recovery, which is why finding solid stocks to buy and hold is so important. But to reduce risks, investors should begin with a starter position in a stock. Increase the position every quarter if the company posts good results. Companies that posted unexpectedly weak results are not automatically stocks to avoid though. You can give them another quarter to prove themselves.AVGOBroadcom$580.13CBChubb$211.29CSCOCisco Systems$45.05CAGConagra Brands$32.89MRKMerck$92.03PRUPrudential$106.68QCOMQualcomm$143.22Broadcom (AVGO)Broadcom(NASDAQ:AVGO) is resilient to a recession. The technology firm reports strong server storage connectivitydemand of $801 millionin the first quarter. Growth hit 32% year-over-year.Broadcom will benefit from surplus enterprise IT spending. For example, if corporations need to compute services, they may buy the company’s SAN or MegaRAID storage connectivity solutions.Video content in social media is another positive catalyst for Broadcom. Cloud customers are adopting its nearline hard disk drives to store data. Sales for storage hardware grew by over 20% compounded annually in the last five years. Strong demand for networking in server storage is increasing average selling prices, as Broadcom is passing along higher material costs related to wafer and substrate production. In 2023 and 2024, the company expects the strong demand to continue. Some companies may be unable to pass higher costs to customers, but Broadcom and and will raise prices if needed, which is great for investors. Strong profit margins will also support AVGO stock from here.Chubb (CB)Chubb(NYSE:CB), an insurance and reinsurance company, posted net premium earnings of $8.75 billion inthe last quarter, up by 6.4% Y/Y. It earned $3.82 a share (non-GAAP). When interest rates rise, Chubb’s return on equity also increases.Chubb has the flexibility to adjust its rates as competitive pressures change. For example, it adjusted its rates depending on the underwriting conditions. In addition, it reviews the adequacy of its rate and the exposure to inflation. Different sectors require different responses.Chubb has a geographically diversified business. In Asia, it expects plenty of growth to take place in the next two decades. The company is increasing its presence to capitalize onopportunities in the region. It also has growing exposure to Latin America, though Chubb is cautious in expanding in the region due to its volatility. The company’s loss ratio improved in the commercial segment, which is a positive development, and it benefited from a resilient portfolio. With a strong balance sheet, Chubb is in financially strong shape to consider merger and acquisition opportunities.Cisco Systems (CSCO)CiscoSystems(NASDAQ:CSCO) shares fell after the company posted weak quarterly results. It lost around 2% of orders from de-bookingorders from Russia. Conversely, its enterprise business grew by 37%. When it realizes revenue from its large customers, Cisco might post better results in future quarters.Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins said in the earnings call that Cisco has no demand issues. It lowered its outlook because of a $200 million impact from Russia. In addition, the lockdown in Shanghai, China disrupted its supply chain. When supply returns, Cisco will receive the needed components to finish its products and complete the sales. In the last quarter, Cisco had strong pricing to offset lower sales. CFO Scott Herren said, “our pricing was up about 160 basis points in Q3.” In other words, customers are willing to pay more for Cisco’s products.Looking ahead, the component supply constraints will ease. The company may have excluded some of the sales rebound in its guidance. It also ended the quarter with over $15 billion in the product backlog. $2 billion of the backlog is in software, a higher-margin product.Cisco will likely post better revenue and margins in the upcoming quarter as those headwinds fade.Conagra Brands (CAG)Conagra Brands(NYSE:CAG) disappointed investors when it cut its profit guidance, citing inflation pressures. It posted revenue growthof 5.1% Y/Y to $2.91 billion. In the fourth quarter, it expects net sales to grow by 7% and earn 64 cents a share. In the fiscal 2022 year, Conagra expects an operating margin of around 14.5%. It previously guided 15.5%, but the slight decline should not be big enough to worry investors. Importantly, the company hedged 80% of itsmaterials for the fourth quarterand 40% overall for fiscal 2023, reducing volatility.Investors may wait for inflationary pressures to ease. Conagra may pass some of the higher costs to customers, and will rely on its strong brand to sustain demand strength. For example, three of its largest brands — Healthy Choice, Birds Eye and Slim Jim — increased market share and posted double-digit growth in the past quarter, despite price increases.Merck & Co (MRK)In the drug manufacturing sector,Merck(NYSE:MRK) has business plan that involves seeking buyout candidates. It is looking for solid biotech companies that have a potentially strong pipeline. And it’s not just about medicine for people. In the animal health business, Merck is also fostering its long-term value. It will grow the business beforeconsidering a spinoff.Merck’s blockbuster drug Keytruda hasmultiple indicators. It continues to expect growth for the drug in treating renal cell carcinoma. Initially, Merck expected 50% of its growth to come from adjuvant therapy. That is 30% of the U.S. business. It now expects this will represent one-quarter of its global businessin the year 2025.Merck’s Covid antiviral pill, molnupiravir, will also become a first-line defense in treating infected patients. Merck reported utilization by 500,000 patients around the world and had shipped 6.4 million courses at the end of the last quarter. As Covid reaches an endemic phase, the healthcare industry will rely on this pill to treat more patients.Prudential Financial (PRU)Prudential(NYSE:PRU) earned $3.17 per common sharein the last quarterwhich was down from $3.99 last year but still strong. Its investors withdrew $4.3 billion in the quarter due to a challenging quarter for fixed-income mutual fund demand. On the other hand, Prudential saw $300 million more in inflows into real estate and public fixed income.Looking at a wider timeframe, Prudential added $55 billion in inflows between 2017 and 2021. The outlook is normal when the stock markets are weakening. To get ahead of the tightening credit market, it issued$1 billion in hybrid debtbefore interest rates started rising. The added liquidity will give Prudential more room to manage its cash flow. For example, it made a capital contribution to its new reinsurance subsidiary. The extra capital will give the unit higher capital efficiency under tougher market conditions.Prudential has a strong balance sheet and could also pursue M&A if the opportunity arises.Qualcomm (QCOM)Qualcomm(NASDAQ:QCOM) is the leader in smartphone chips. It recently announced the release of theSnapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The platform will support high-speed 5G on devices with 10 Gbps speeds. The system also offers what it calls “all-day power.” When you add in Wi-Fi 6 and 6E support, its newest chip will refresh its product portfolio and lead to higher sales. In the last quarter, Qualcomm posted revenue growingby 41.1% to $11.2 billion, and it earned $3.21 a share on a non-GAAP measure. In the third quarter, it expects revenue of up to $11.3 billion and non-GAAP EPS in the range of $2.75 to $2.95.Markets are both fickle and forgetful. His company revolutionized the payroll process by taking it entirely online. It has continued to be a disruptive force over the years, developing a single cloud-based software solution to help companies manage all their human resources (HR) processes. The company's latest innovation, Beti, is once again disrupting the industry by changing the entire payroll procedure. It's helping drive explosive growth for Paycom, which could continue for years to come.Image source: Getty Images.A better payroll systemRichison discussed Paycom's latest disruptive move on the fourth-quarter conference call. He noted that the company \"extended our platform to the employee even further through innovations like BETI, which enables employees to do their own payroll, and we are seeing very strong adoption and record employee usage.\"The company sees Beti, which stands for Better Employee Transaction Interface, as the new way of doing payroll. The industry-first employee-driven payroll solution improves data accuracy, oversight, and user experience. It puts the payroll responsibility into the hands of employees, eliminating a multistep, imperfect, and time-consuming process for HR departments while giving employees more insight into their pay.Richison stated on the call:For years, I have been predicting the end of the old model, whereby HR and payroll personnel's routine of inputting data for employees, is replaced by a self-service model that provides employees direct access to the database. The old model is dying and that is good for both the business and the employee. Paycom is leading this transformation. That's just the latest innovation from the company. The company's single-database HR platform works better than the cobbled-together systems that most companies use today. That has enabled Paycom to capitalize by offering companies an easy-to-use system that improves user experiences, allowing them to maximize the return on this investment in Paycom's software. An unstoppable growth driverThis award-winning solution has been a smashing success. It helped drive record annual revenue retention of 94% in 2021, up from 93% in the prior year. It was also a key growth driver. The company ended the year with nearly 34,000 clients, up 9% compared to 2020. Meanwhile, revenue surged 29% year-over-year in the fourth quarter and 25.4% for the full year. Earnings grew even faster as its margin expanded despite aggressive spending to grow the business. The company delivered an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin of 39.7% of its revenue in 2021, up from 39.3% in 2020.Paycom is only scratching the surface of its potential. Richison noted on the call that \"we still only have approximately 5% of the TAM (total available market) today, so there's plenty of runway ahead to expand and continue to capture market share.\" It's investing heavily to continue taking more market share. It opened five new outside sales offices over the last five months (Manhattan, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, New England, and South Jersey) -- bringing the total to 54 -- to expand its geographic reach. In addition, it has expanded the upper end of its target client size from those with up to 5,000 employees to those with upwards of 10,000 employees. These catalysts have Paycom positioned to continue growing fast in 2022 and beyond. The cloud-based software company sees its revenue rising to more than $1.3 billion this year, putting it up nearly 25% from last year's total. Meanwhile, it sees a further improvement in its adjusted EBITDA margin to around 40% this year, suggesting continued strong profit growth.Lots of growth still aheadPaycom continues to disrupt the payroll industry by launching innovative software solutions that improve the process. While it has grown tremendously over the years, it still has lots of room to run. Mutual-fund manager Peter Lynch called such investments 10-baggers. He found quite a few of them during his time leading Fidelity Investments' Magellan Fund. But Lynch is one of the most successful investors ever. Can investors who aren't legends buy potential 10-baggers now?I think so. And it doesn't have to take decades to generate 10x returns. Here are three stocks that may be able to turn $100,000 into $1 million by 2030.1. MercadoLibreWhat do you get when you cross three huge opportunities with a fast-growing and underserved region? MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI). The company stands as the leader in Latin American e-commerce, digital payments, and logistics with a market cap below $60 billion.I view MercadoLibre as one of the top growth stocks to buy for 2022. The stock is down more than 40% from its 52-week high, despite its business continuing to fire on all cylinders. My prediction is that it will rebound strongly this year. However, I'm even more excited about MercadoLibre's prospects throughout the rest of this decade. Investment-firm Morgan Stanley expects the e-commerce market-penetration rate in Latin America will double by 2025 and continue growing rapidly afterward. MercadoLibre will be the obvious winner if this projection is right -- both with its e-commerce and logistics services. There are also millions of people in Latin America who don't use banking services or have only limited banking services. MercadoLibre's MercadoPago payment platform provides a great solution for these individuals. I think that digital payments will become a much bigger business for the company and help it potentially deliver a 10x return by 2030.2. Unity SoftwareARK Invest founder Cathie Wood believes that the metaverse could be worth trillions of dollars. Matthew Ball, CEO of venture-capital firm Epyllion, projects that the metaverse opportunity could reach $30 trillion over the next 15 years. If they're anywhere close to being right, Unity Software (NYSE:U) could easily turn an initial investment of $100,000 into $1 million by the end of this decade.Unity isn't a company that's in the limelight all that much. However, its software was used to develop more than 700 of the top 1,000 mobile games. Unity's platform is No. 1, by far, in creating interactive, real-time 3D content. The rise of the metaverse should lead to a lot more of this content. That presents a massive opportunity for Unity -- one that the company fully intends to seize. CEO John Riccitiello said in Unity's third-quarter conference call that the company's goal is for between 60% and 80% of metaverse content to be built with its software.Riccitiello's range seems attainable based on Unity's past track record. If the metaverse delivers on its potential, it's not hard to envision Unity's market cap increasing from the current $37 billion to at least $370 billion by 2030.3. Twist BioscienceTwist Bioscience (NASDAQ:TWST) ranks as one of the most intriguing biotech stocks on the market. The company specializes in making synthetic DNA. This DNA is used in a variety of ways, including drug development and research.Twist estimates that the addressable market for its synthetic DNA is around $1.8 billion annually. It believes there's at least another $1 billion per-year opportunity in tools for next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample preparation.I don't think those markets are enough to make Twist a 10-bagger by 2030. However, the company is focusing on another area that could enable its stock to deliver a 10x or greater return over the next few years: DNA data storage, which presents a $35 billion opportunity. And DNA holds the potential to store data more cost-effectively for longer periods of time than other alternatives.Twist has a long way to go on this front. But the company is making progress, including confirming that it can synthesize DNA on a 1-micron chip.I think that Twist can get the costs of DNA data storage near $100 per terabyte. If it reaches this milestone, this stock should be a surefire 10-bagger.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NGS":1,"U":1,"TWST":1,"MELI":0.6}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1994,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009790361,"gmtCreate":1640787121394,"gmtModify":1676533541423,"author":{"id":"3567931316873837","authorId":"3567931316873837","name":"Freedom_99","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3567931316873837","idStr":"3567931316873837"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009790361","repostId":"2195024452","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2195024452","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1640785532,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2195024452?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-12-29 21:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 No-Brainer Warren Buffett Stocks to Buy for 2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2195024452","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These Buffett stocks look primed for huge things in the near future.","content":"<div>\n<p>A quick look at the top 10 stocks that legendary investor Warren Buffett owns through his company, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), reveals that seven of them gained at least 25% in 2021, ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/12/29/3-no-brainer-warren-buffett-stocks-to-buy-for-2022/\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The S&P 500 index, in comparison, is up 27% so far this year. While Berkshire owns a large number of stocks and not just these 10, these numbers show why so many investors follow Buffett's stock-picking style, or often simply buy the stocks he does.I don't quite recommend putting your money in a stock just because Buffett has, but Berkshire's portfolio is an excellent hunting ground if you're looking for stock ideas. Here are three Buffett stocks that I think are no-brainer buys before the year ends. The fears are overrated, and catalysts underratedVisa (NYSE:V) shares have hugely disappointed in the second half of 2021, partly because of its ongoing feud with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and renewed fears of COVID-19 shutdowns that could hit consumer spending. While the latter is a risk that's not going to affect Visa alone, the company is eager to resolve issues with Amazon, and that could just be one of the big triggers for Visa stock in 2022.Image source: Getty Images.Amazon intends to ban payments using Visa cards on its platform beginning Jan. 19 because of high transaction fees. Visa has expressed surprise over Amazon's decision, saying such transaction fees are regulated in the U.K., and is already negotiating with the e-commerce giant. There's a good chance Amazon might retreat, as the move could cost Amazon U.K. nearly 1.4 billion British pounds, according to British newspaper The Independent. So while it strives to settle its dispute with Amazon, Visa hasn't lost focus on innovation and growth. For example, it just acquired CurrencyCloud for nearly $925 million. While CurrencyCloud's cloud-based platform allows cross-border foreign currency exchange services across 180 countries and even has access to RippleNet under its partnership with Ripple, which owns the popular namesake cryptocurrency, Visa has also reportedly partnered with 60 crypto platforms to launch cards that facilitate digital currency spending.Visa's operational performance doesn't leave much room for complaint, either -- its payments volume rose 16%, and revenue and net income grew 10% and 13%, respectively, in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. With Visa also increasing its dividend by 17% and the world increasingly switching from cash to digital payments in this pandemic, this Buffett stock is a must-own for any long-term investor. No longer the boring auto stockShares of legacy automaker General Motors (NYSE:GM) rallied roughly 37% this year as of this writing, but the stock is still trading significantly below its five-year average price-to-earnings ratio. Given the pace at which GM is going all out to exploit the electric-vehicle (EV) boom, the stock looks primed for stronger days ahead. In mid-2021, General Motors outlined ambitious plans to invest $35 billion on electric and autonomous vehicles between 2020 and 2035. By 2030, GM projects its EV revenue to jump to nearly $90 billion, from an estimate $10 billion in 2023.On Dec. 17, GM delivered its first GMC Hummer EV pickup. The same day, GM's wholly owned subsidiary BrightDrop also delivered the first of its 500 all-electric EV600 vehicles to FedEx. Days later, GM announced plans to expand its EV technology beyond its own brands by supplying EV components and solutions to help others electrify their fleet, including in the marine industry. GM's majority-owned subsidiary Cruise also expects the automaker to start manufacturing a driverless vehicle called Origin in 2023.In short, there's a lot happening at GM that should excite auto investors and pique the interest of any investor looking to buy a Buffett stock right now.A top bet on the world's largest EV marketFor several months now, I've been pounding the table on another auto stock Buffett owns: BYD (OTC:BYDDY). Several investors have been wary of investing in Chinese stocks, given the potential risk of delisting from the U.S. that they face, but BYD is also already listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange. And the company is firing on all cylinders from an operational point of view.BYD is one of the world's largest EV manufacturers as well as one of the largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers in China, which is also the world's largest EV market. BYD is currently the largest seller of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China, with its monthly sales approaching the 1 million mark. At this pace, BYD could corner 25% of China's NEV market in 2022.Notably, BYD is also rapidly expanding its footprint outside China, particularly in Europe. BYD already builds and sells electric buses in the United States. There's a lot more happening at BYD, too: In December alone, BYD announced that it'll launch its second model in Singapore in 2022 and will increase its stake in its joint venture with Daimler to 90%. BYD is also entering the autonomous-driving space through a joint venture, which could pave the way for much bigger things for the automaker.
