Good company with good strategy. Current market is pulling it down like others. Wise to stay out for awhile.

The company's Alder Lake chips, the first from the company with a mix of high-performance and efficiency cores, started to roll out in late 2021. These powerful, affordable chips generally beat AMD's Ryzen 5000 series chips in performance and value.Intel built on this advantage last year with its Raptor Lake chips, which featured the same mixed-core architecture along with meaningful performance improvements. \"Intel's 13th-Gen Raptor Lake processors deliver explosive generational performance increases that beat AMD's similarly priced Ryzen chips in gaming, single- and multi-threaded work at every price point,\" said reviewers at Tom's Hardware. Those last-gen Alder Lake chips are still available, but they're about to get more expensive. Intel indicated last July that it would be raising some CPU prices toward the end of year to offset the cost inflation it was experiencing.A historically weak PC market may have delayed those plans – global PC shipments tumbled nearly 20% year over year in the third quarter, prompting companies across the PC supply chain to reduce inventories. But as we enter 2023, Intel is now following through on those price increases.Testing its pricing powerIntel has increased the recommended customer price on a wide variety of its Alder Lake processors by roughly 10%. The high-end i9-12900K, for example, is now listed at a range of $648 to $658, up $59 from previous pricing.Oddly enough, this move puts Alder Lake prices above Raptor Lake prices in some cases, at least on paper. Intel's price range of the i9-13900K is currently $589 to $599 despite offering better performance than its predecessor. These prices aren't necessarily what potential buyers of these chips are seeing at retail right now. On Amazon, the i9-12900K currently sells for a heavily discounted $409, while the i9-13900K is priced in line with Intel's listing at $599. It's possible that discounts were used on the Alder Lake chips to run down supplies, and now that the inventory situation has improved, Intel feels comfortable bumping up prices. It seems likely that Intel will eventually push through price increases on its Raptor Lake chips as well, since it wouldn't make much sense to charge less for superior products. How this changes thingsWhile AMD hasn't announced any official price cuts, its last-gen Ryzen 5000 chips and current-gen Ryzen 7000 chips are selling at discounts that appear to be permanent. The big discounts for the Ryzen 5000 chips are likely an attempt to clear out excess inventory. AMD's client segment saw revenue tumble 40% year over year in the third quarter as the PC supply chain grappled with too much inventory. The discounts for the Ryzen 7000 chips, on the other hand, are necessary for them to be competitive against Intel's Raptor Lake. At MSRP, Raptor Lake is the clear winner based on third-party reviews. Once you factor in more expensive motherboards and no support for cheaper DDR4 memory, AMD's latest Ryzen chips are at an even bigger disadvantage. If Intel does boost prices for Raptor Lake chips, AMD's Ryzen 7000 chips would look more attractive, particularly at the current discounted prices. That could allow AMD to boost prices a bit itself, which would help margins. Although if Intel is feeling inflationary costs pressures, AMD is likely feeling them as well.Intel's PC CPU lineup is the strongest it's been in years. While sluggish demand for PCs will continue to put pressure on the company's results, it's clearly confident enough in the value proposition of its chips to push some costs onto its customers.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"INTC":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2994,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9925774728,"gmtCreate":1672122987465,"gmtModify":1676538637707,"author":{"id":"3576287131221381","authorId":"3576287131221381","name":"Lao Tzu Ang","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/501039474851410999b0b5711797e95d","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3576287131221381","idStr":"3576287131221381"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Growth stocks. Many strong, competitively advantaged businesses have seen their stock prices cut in half or worse. And recent declines suggest more pain could lie ahead for shareholders.Yet painful drops set the stage for powerful rebounds. Better still, investors are sometimes given the chance to buy shares in great companies at steeply discounted prices. If that sounds appealing, read on to learn about two such profit opportunities available to you in the market today.Shopify2022 has been particularly brutal for Shopify's (SHOP -2.80%) shareholders. The e-commerce leader's stock price is down an agonizing 75% year to date, as online retail sales have slowed from their torrid pace of growth earlier in the pandemic.Yet Shopify's long-term growth prospects remain attractive. Retail e-commerce sales will increase to nearly $7.4 trillion by 2025, up from roughly $5.5 trillion in 2022, according to eMarketer. Shopify -- as a leading provider of online store creation tools, business financing, and payment processing and fulfillment services -- is likely to be a prime beneficiary of this global megatrend.Shopify already serves millions of merchants in 175 countries. Its customers account for more than 10% of retail e-commerce sales in the U.S. Shopify's share of this large and expanding market has grown exponentially in recent years, fueled by the growth of direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce, a trend the software provider has helped to enable. The DTC trend should help to drive Shopify's market share even higher in the coming years, particularly in international markets, where the company's operations are in their nascent stages. It's true that Shopify's growth slowed this year as shoppers returned to traditional retail stores once COVID restrictions were lifted. But trillions of dollars of retail sales are still expected to shift to online channels in the years ahead. This long-term trend suggests that Shopify's growth story is still in its early innings. And with its stock now trading for only a quarter of the price it fetched just a year ago, long-term investors might want to take advantage of the opportunity to buy shares in this e-commerce leader at a massive discount.SnowflakeSnowflake's (SNOW -1.34%) stock price also fell sharply this year as investors soured on premium-priced growth stocks. After soaring to highs near $400 shortly after its initial public offering (IPO) in late 2020 and again in late 2021, the cloud data specialist's shares are down nearly 60% in 2022.Yet, like Shopify, Snowflake still has tremendous long-term growth potential. The data warehousing platform helps customers aggregate and analyze information from a wide array of sources, including public clouds operated by Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet. By making it easier for its clients to glean valuable insights from their ever-growing amounts of cloud data, Snowflake is becoming an increasingly indispensable tech partner. The company's financial metrics bear this out. Snowflake's revenue surged 67% year over year to $557 million in the third quarter. The gains were driven by strong new account growth and higher sales to existing clients. Snowflake ended the quarter with 7,292 total customers, up from 5,416 in the year-ago period. Moreover, its net retention rate was an impressive 165%, meaning customers spent 65% more on its platform than they did in the prior year.Investors should note that Snowflake is not yet profitable. It generated an operating loss of $206 million in the third quarter. Yet that's mainly because the company is more focused on capturing a larger share of its massive market opportunity than near-term profitability. Snowflake's adjusted product gross margin of 75% provides a glimpse of just how profitable this business can become as it scales its operations. For its part, management pegs Snowflake's total addressable market at a whopping $248 billion by 2026. This is one of the reasons why the company expects its annual revenue to soar to $10 billion by the end of the decade, up from roughly $1.9 billion over the trailing 12 months. If Snowflake can achieve that lofty target -- and its impressive growth to date suggests it can -- investors will likely be well rewarded, particularly those who buy shares at today's heavily discounted prices.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SNOW":0.9,"SHOP":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2418,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9925774671,"gmtCreate":1672122867993,"gmtModify":1676538637691,"author":{"id":"3576287131221381","authorId":"3576287131221381","name":"Lao Tzu Ang","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/501039474851410999b0b5711797e95d","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3576287131221381","idStr":"3576287131221381"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good company with good strategy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Compositehad all been seeing sizable gains on the day coming into the early afternoon, but by the end of the trading session, all three were down, albeit by less than 1%.IndexDaily Percentage ChangeDaily Point ChangeDow(0.42%)(142)S&P 500(0.61%)(24)Nasdaq(0.76%)(86)Data source: Yahoo! Finance. For the most part, the Fed decision went largely as the majority of investors had expected. Yet from the immediate response to the news, you might think that there was something buried in the central bank's announcement or some nuance in the subsequent press conference that gave investors a new look at the likely course of future policy. And indeed, there were some things behind the scenes that might have given market participants some pause about how 2023 is likely to go.What the Fed saidAs was largely expected, the Fed boosted its target range for the federal funds rate by half a percentage point, setting the new range at 4.25% to 4.5%. Some investors had been concerned that the central bank might do a three-quarter percentage-point increase for the fifth consecutive time, but most had anticipated a slowing of the pace of rate hikes based on changes to the Fed's post-meeting statement roughly six weeks ago. Most aspects of the Fed's statement remained largely the same from the last meeting. The Fed said it would keep taking into account the fact that there will be a lag between its past tightening moves and when their effect will show up in measures of inflation and economic activity. Nevertheless, the Fed believes that it will take further increases in the target for the fed funds rate before its policy will be sufficiently restrictive to return inflation rates back to the central bank's long-term 2% annual target.Image source: Getty Images. However, there were significant changes in the accompanying materials that the Fed released along with the statement. In its economic projections, the Fed expects economic growth to remain sluggish well into the future, with real gross domestic product rising just 0.5% in 2023 and 1.6% in 2024 before returning to a long-term expectation of 1.8% annually. Those projected numbers were weaker than in the Fed's projections from September.Unemployment is likely to rise by nearly a full percentage point next year to 4.6% according to Fed members, which is higher than previously projected. Fed members also kicked up their inflation expectations, although they still think personal consumption expenditure prices will rise just 3.1% in 2023, reflecting a quick reversal in price pressures.Probably the biggest change came in the Fed's anticipated course of future monetary policy. The board now expects the fed funds rate to rise to 5.1% in 2023, up fully half a percentage point from its projections just three months ago. That implies more tightening than many investors had hoped to see, and it arguably raises the chances that strict monetary policy will cause a prospective recession to occur.Market reaction to the FedIn addition to stocks falling, bond yields immediately rose following the Fed decision. Yet both of those moves moderated somewhat over the rest of the afternoon, with investors seemingly feeling more comfortable about what the future will bring.Within the stock market, investors seemed to get more conservative. Healthcare stocks were the only group that rose on the day, and traditionally defensive sectors like utilities and consumer staples had only minimal losses. By contrast, higher-growth areas like communication services struggled, as did financial stocks, which have gotten whipsawed by an inverted yield curve. All in all, the market's reaction to the Fed was relatively muted, and stocks didn't give up much of their gains from earlier in the week.
