Credit","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2149328960","media":"Reuters","summary":"Wells Fargo is ending a popular consumer lending product, angering some of its customers, CNBC has l","content":"
Wells Fargo is ending a popular consumer lending product, angering some of its customers, CNBC has learned.
\n
The bank is shutting down all existing personal lines of credit in coming weeks and no longer offers the product, according to customer letters reviewed by CNBC.
\n
The revolving credit lines, which typically let users borrow $3,000 to $100,000, were pitched as a way to consolidate higher-interest credit-card debt, pay for home renovations or avoid overdraft fees on linked checking accounts.
\n
\"Wells Fargo recently reviewed its product offerings and decided to discontinue offering new Personal and Portfolio line of credit accounts and close all existing accounts,\" the bank said in the six-page letter. The move would let the bank focus on credit cards and personal loans, it said.
\n
Wells Fargo CEOCharles Scharfhas been forced to make difficult decisions during the pandemic, offloadingassets and deposits and stepping back from some products because of limitations imposed by the Federal Reserve. In 2018, the Fed barred Wells Fargo from growing its balance sheet until it fixes compliance shortcomings revealed by thebank's fake accounts scandal.
\n
The asset cap has ultimately cost the bank billions of dollars in lost earnings, based on the balance sheet growth of rivals includingJPMorgan ChaseandBank of Americaover the past three years, analysts havesaid.
\n
It has also affected Wells Fargo's customers: Last year, the lender told staff it washalting allnew home equity lines of credit, CNBC reported. Months later, the bank also withdrew from a segment of theauto lending business.
\n
With its latest move, Wells Fargo warned customers that the account closures \"may have an impact on your credit score,\" according to a Frequently Asked Questions segment of the letter.
\n
Another part of the FAQ asserted that the account closures couldn't be reviewed or reversed: \"We apologize for the inconvenience this Line of Credit closure will cause,\" the bank said. \"The account closure is final.\"
\n
\"Simplify offerings\"
\n
Wells Fargo didn't directly answer questions as to what role, if any, the Fed asset cap played in its latest move.
\n
The bank gave this statement: \"In an effort to simplify our product offerings, we've made the decision to no longer offer personal lines of credit as we feel we can better meet the borrowing needs of our customers through credit card and personal loan products.\"
\n
Customers have been given a 60-day notice that their accounts will be shuttered, and remaining balances will require regular minimum payments, according to the statement.
\n
The move is a strange one given the banking industry's need to boost loan growth.
\n
After a burst of commercial lending during the early days of the pandemic, loan growth has been hard to muster. Corporations have used money raised in stock and debt issuance to retire bank credit lines, and consumers stuck at home had fewer reasons to use credit cards.
\n
In fact, last year big banks experienced the first aggregate drop in loans in more than a decade, accordingto Barclays bank analyst Jason Goldberg. Of the four largest U.S. banks, Wells Fargo saw the worst decline.
\n
After banks saw that borrowers held up far better than they had initially feared, the industry recently began marketingnew credit cardswith large sign-on bonuses in an effort to boost lending.
\n
Making the switch
\n
Wells Fargo doesn't disclose how many customers used the credit lines it is eliminating. That demand surged through the pandemic and stay-at-home orders, which boosted sales of at-home entertainment like videogames.\nAll were compounded by the continuing chip shortage, which has boosted demand - and prices -for the chips and the cards.\nAs for Truist, “Our ongoing dialog with industry contacts (component buyers/sellers) continue to reflect improving demand signals from NVDA's data-center business through 2021,” analyst William Stein wrote in a commentary.\n“More recently, order trends indicate another meaningful growth year in 2022.”\nMeanwhile, “Software monetization reveals a multibillion-dollar opportunity,” Stein said.\n“We've long noted that NVDA's competitive moat is owing less to its semiconductor design and more to its culture of innovation, ecosystem of incumbency, and massive software investment.\n“Recently the company announced plans to offer customers full stack AI development software licensing and support on enterprise servers.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVDA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1960,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":143022893,"gmtCreate":1625753178512,"gmtModify":1703747886119,"author":{"id":"3585189615261325","authorId":"3585189615261325","name":"SamBull","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585189615261325","authorIdStr":"3585189615261325"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"All red","listText":"All red","text":"All red","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/143022893","repostId":"1162204971","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1333,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":143064834,"gmtCreate":1625752983028,"gmtModify":1703747874582,"author":{"id":"3585189615261325","authorId":"3585189615261325","name":"SamBull","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585189615261325","authorIdStr":"3585189615261325"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Faint ","listText":"Faint ","text":"Faint","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/143064834","repostId":"1162204971","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1525,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140727074,"gmtCreate":1625675410198,"gmtModify":1703746301313,"author":{"id":"3585189615261325","authorId":"3585189615261325","name":"SamBull","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585189615261325","authorIdStr":"3585189615261325"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good news","listText":"Good news","text":"Good news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140727074","repostId":"2149313903","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1821,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":140105116,"gmtCreate":1625634585535,"gmtModify":1703745368145,"author":{"id":"3585189615261325","authorId":"3585189615261325","name":"SamBull","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585189615261325","authorIdStr":"3585189615261325"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great ","listText":"Great ","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/140105116","repostId":"1116112587","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116112587","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625628271,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1116112587?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-07 11:24","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Why This Red-Hot EV Charging Stock Jumped 42.7% in June","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1116112587","media":"Nasdaq","summary":"What happened\nShares of ChargePoint Holdings(NYSE: CHPT)shot through the roof in June, gaining a who","content":"
What happened
\n
Shares of ChargePoint Holdings(NYSE: CHPT)shot through the roof in June, gaining a whopping 42.7%, according to data provided byS&P Global Market Intelligence. The shares may have dropped nearly 9% already so far in July, but some investors only appear to be taking some profits off the table after the EV charging stock's mind-boggling rally in June.
\n
So what
\n
ChargePoint shares rose by double digits soon after the company reported its first-quarter earnings on June 3. It is still a growing company and is spending a lot of money on research and development, marketing, and administrative expenses, which is why it suffered a loss from operations of nearly $47 million in the first quarter.
\n
The company was, however, profitable on aGAAPbasis thanks to gains from changes in the fair value of warrants, something thatspecial purpose acquisition companies(or SPACs)are required to account forin their income statements each quarter. As a reminder, this was ChargePoint's second earnings release since going public after completing its merger with SPAC Switchback Energy Acquisition earlier this year.
\n
Importantly, ChargePoint's revenue grew 24% year over year in the first quarter. Sales from its largest segment, networked charging systems, jumped 36% year over year. The segment accounted for 66% of total revenue. Subscriptions, which accounted for roughly 27% of revenue, saw sales rise 20%. Those numbers reflect a growing customer base for ChargePoint even aselectric vehicle penetrationcontinues to gather momentum.
\n
In fact, ChargePoint gained a record number of customers in the quarter, taking its total customer count to above 5,000. In mid-June, it also collaborated with Mercedes-Benz to launch Mercedes me Charge, a service that will give drivers of the Mercedes EQ series seamless access to ChargePoint's EV charging network.
\n
ChargePoint also announced new EV charging services, even calling them its most comprehensive to date. The package including fleet management software, charging solutions, design expertise, and ongoing maintenance and support -- available for all fleets regardless of type and size.
\n
Now what
\n
ChargePoint reiterated its guidance and expects:
\n
\n
Revenue worth $46 million to $50 million in the second quarter.
\n
Revenue of $195 million to $205 million for the full year.
\n
\n
That suggests solid 37% growth at the midpoint for the full year. And with the EV charging company also ending the first quarter with a strong cash balance of $609.8 million, it's not surprising that investors consider ChargePoint to be one of the biggest potentialwinners from President Joe Biden's infrastructure plan.
","source":"lsy1603171495471","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why This Red-Hot EV Charging Stock Jumped 42.7% in June
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy This Red-Hot EV Charging Stock Jumped 42.7% in June\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-07 11:24 GMT+8 Nasdaq\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
What happened\nShares of ChargePoint Holdings(NYSE: CHPT)shot through the roof in June, gaining a whopping 42.7%, according to data provided byS&P Global Market Intelligence.
