Tik Tok made Tesla another buy?
Cause: The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled to uphold the ban on TikTok - the U.S. will force a shutdown of TikTok on Jan. 19 (the day before Trump's inauguration) if TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, doesn't sell the app.
However, ByteDance has explicitly refused to sell. starting January 13, some US users moved to the new social platform, and Xiaohongshu (RedNotes) topped the App Store's free charts.
There are rumors of Tik Tok sale to Elon Musk:
The sale of Tik Tok to Musk seems to be an emotionally acceptable outcome for China, the U.S. government (both the Biden and Trump administrations), business partners, and Tik Tok itself;
If Elon buys Tik Tok, it's also likely that it will be merged into the existing X platform (but operated independently under a separate brand), and then raise money in another IPO; after all, buying Tik Tok would also cause Elon to incur huge amounts of debt;
The matter may be a negotiation between the U.S. and China, and Elon Musk himself may not even have been consulted yet; and in terms of the official attitude of the current rumor mill, it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon;
Even the valuation of the U.S. portion of Tik Tok is not something Elon Musk can acquire without selling/mortgaging/exchanging Tesla shares.So if Elon is really interested, it could be good for $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ (some investors are already buying Tesla on this basis), and Tesla adds a new "Tik Tok" concept?
For Tik Tok, it's also a good idea to bring in other new investors with government backgrounds or who can form strategic alliances.On the one hand, it can circumvent its fate of being forced to sell, and on the other hand, it may further expand its business.
Elon Musk is just a claim that came out of the media, and it may even be a deliberate attempt by the Democrats media to let the air out of their mouths, and instead play "anti-logic" to dig a hole for Elon Musk and Trump.
If it was the China Gov who made the claim, it's more likely that it was an operation to throw the bag of water back to the currently struggling Biden administration under the premise of showing Trump some mercy.
