Deutsche Bank Sees DeepSeek Boosting China Stocks: Your Choice is?
With the rise of DeepSeek (DS) in the global AI field, the investment world has shifted its focus towards significant changes in the Chinese and global AI industries. Now, whenever DeepSeek is mentioned, related concept stocks are soaring.
1. Deutsche Bank Report: DeepSeek's Success Triggers Revaluation of Chinese Assets
Deutsche Bank predicts that with DeepSeek's explosive rise, the long-standing "valuation discount" on Chinese stocks will gradually disappear, particularly in the A-share and Hong Kong markets, where investors will increasingly focus on the profitability and policy support potential of Chinese companies.
It’s rumored that $Alibaba(BABA)$ will invest $1 billion to acquire a 10% stake in DeepSeek, and the stock surged 5% at the open. Furthermore, related concept stocks, such as $KINGSOFT CLOUD(03896)$, have already risen by 43% this year.
2. $Microsoft(MSFT)$, $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$, and $Amazon.com(AMZN)$: Shifting CapEx Attitudes and Focus on AI Efficiency and Returns
Innovation by DeepSeek is likely to disrupt the traditional AI pricing model, potentially leading to a fundamental shift in the AI industry's pricing power.
Global tech giants have made notable changes in their AI investment strategies. In their recent earnings reports, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon outlined their new approaches to AI technology, CapEx, and future development directions.
Microsoft: Microsoft has shifted its focus from early strategic exploration of AI to efficiency and returns. In its earnings report, Microsoft's management acknowledged DeepSeek's innovations and stated that the "falling token prices" and "lower inference computing costs" will promote the widespread adoption of AI applications.
Meta: Meta's stance is more aggressive than Microsoft's. Although Meta expressed strong interest in DeepSeek's technological innovations and is exploring how to incorporate them into its own open-source models, the company remains committed to significant CapEx investment, with expected capital expenditures to increase sharply in 2025. Meta's large user base means that it is less concerned about potential oversupply of AI compute resources.
Amazon: Amazon's CapEx spending reached $27.6 billion in Q4 2024, a 95% year-over-year increase. The company projects its capital expenditures for 2025 to exceed $100 billion, demonstrating its continued confidence in AI compute and data infrastructure investments. Amazon’s AI investment strategy shows strong faith in the future demand for computational power.

I’m cautiously optimistic about Chinese assets in 2025. DeepSeek may help narrow the valuation discount, but geopolitical and regulatory risks remain. I’d focus on strong, policy-aligned companies rather than speculation.
Big tech’s AI spending should benefit NVIDIA $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ in the short term, but as firms develop their own chips, pricing pressures could emerge. Still, NVIDIA’s AI dominance keeps it attractive for now. My focus remains on long-term AI infrastructure investments over short-term hype.

I'm still bullish on both $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ and also China assets. Just because deepseek is built on older chips does not mean that American companies like nvidia is going to go down hill. Precisely because of algorithms innovation from deepseek allows much more room to for AI to grow, allowing for even more potential for the high end chips.
Also people should stop udmerestimating china. Yes I agree that China stocks are more "risky" because of the unpredictable nature of the government. But we have to constantly keep in mind that China produces the most number of STEM students and also publish most number of research papers every year. Sooner or later, or even now they should be recognize as a strong tech powerhouse.
For $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ it will have higher demand due to the rampant use of AI development.
