🚀 Aug 25—— Aug 29 Leaderboard: Top Traders & Market Highlights!
Last week (Aug 25–29), U.S. markets slipped from record highs as tech and AI names cooled after mixed earnings and a hotter-than-expected July PCE reading; $S&P 500(.SPX)$ and $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ ended the week marginally lower while $iShares Russell 2000 ETF(IWM)$ held up better.
$HSI(HSI)$Hong Kong was relatively resilient—buoyed by state-backed support and steady southbound flows—but gains were capped by profit-taking in heavyweight tech and concerns about China’s macro outlook.
The week was also shaped by shifting tariff and policy headlines (an appeals-court ruling on tariffs) that bolstered Fed-cut expectations yet left investors cautious into September.Overall, markets moved from momentum to selective stock-picker trading as investors parsed earnings, inflation data and geopolitical/legal developments.
Competition Highlights:
🔹 Most-traded stock :$NVIDIA(NVDA)$
Last week (8.25-8.29), $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ became the stock with the highest trading volume, mainly due to its quarterly report and management's statements on China/export licensing, which affected market sentiment and triggered large-scale buying and selling driven by news.At the same time, the sharp increase in short-term option transactions, the particularly active call contracts, and the centralized position adjustment of passive/ETF funds in the AI theme rotation jointly amplified the intraday volatility and turnover rate.
🔹 Top-performing stock :$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$
Last week, $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ became the best performing stock, mainly due to its strong Q2 financial report - quarterly revenue exceeded $1 billion for the first time and raised its full year guidance, indicating a significant increase in demand for commercial and government AI; At the same time, the benefits of large contracts and active options/derivatives trading have attracted a large amount of institutional and retail funds, amplifying the rise in stock prices.
