SoftBank's sale of $5.83 billion worth of Nvidia shares definitely caught my attention, especially coming just ahead of Nvidia's earnings next week. However, I don't see it as an outright bearish signal. SoftBank has been known for actively managing its portfolio and realizing profits when positions become outsized, particularly after strong rallies. Considering Nvidia's massive run over the past year, it's understandable that SoftBank would want to secure gains and rebalance its exposure.

For me, the key question isn't why SoftBank sold, but what Nvidia's upcoming earnings could reveal about AI demand momentum. Nvidia remains the backbone of the AI infrastructure buildout, and as long as hyperscalers and enterprises continue investing heavily in GPUs, its fundamentals stay strong. The risk, however, is whether the market has already priced in too much optimism — any hint of slowing demand or margin compression could trigger a short-term correction, even if results are solid.

Personally, I'm not adding new Nvidia $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$  positions ahead of earnings. The stock has already rallied hard, and expectations are extremely high, leaving little margin for error. I'd rather wait for the report to see if there's a post-earnings dip or any guidance weakness before averaging in again. Nvidia's long-term story is still compelling, but timing matters when a stock is trading near peak sentiment.

That said, I wouldn't interpret SoftBank's move as a signal to sell either. Institutional investors often have different liquidity needs and time horizons. Nvidia's leadership in AI chips, coupled with its expanding software and networking ecosystem, keeps it in a dominant position for years to come. So while I'm staying cautious in the short term, my conviction in Nvidia's long-term growth remains intact — I'm just choosing patience over chasing momentum right now.

As a retail investor, I focus mainly on the US and Singapore markets, combining a mix of technical trading and long-term investing strategies. I enjoy analyzing charts, spotting patterns, and making calculated moves based on both market sentiment and fundamentals. While I'm not a professional, I treat my portfolio seriously and continue to learn and grow with each trade. AMD announced 35% more overall revenue over the next five years, which translates to 6-7% compounded annually. What is the big deal? Did I miss something? NVDA has achieved 35% revenue growth in less than a year. And the P/E, P/S, and profitability, all favor NVDA over AMD with a huge margin. So what gives?
