$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ To be completely honest option trading for me in 2025 has been a mild disaster. I only buy calls and in 2024 I made over 30k buying and excising and selling $Rocket Lab USA, Inc.(RKLB)$ calls.
I now understand that 2024 was a fluke. I backed a winning growth stock that went 10x. 2025 has been painful. I brought call options in a dividend stock that ended up suspending its dividend. I bet on its 15+ year track record of never suspending but instead consistently Increasing dividends, and I was wrong.
I also brought calls in $Venture Global, Inc.(VG)$ underestimating the impact of and impending law suit, that has caused the stock to tank from $17 to around $6.
Now I never go short in call options, I only buy leaps at least one year out. But I still look like I will be smashed to the tune of around $4,500 in January next year.
But its taught me some massive Lessons that I'd like to share. First up, never buy calls on a maybe. That is it's gone down and it could go back up, or it's an overreaction and it mite go back up. Mite, maybe or could is a bad idea for buying calls.
To consider buying calls, the word will supersedes. You must be certain it will go up. Nothing is certain in the stock market, obviously. But certainly is the necessity. and certainty comes from knowing. Knowing everything you possibly can about the stock and it's management.
so this year I have still gone well on what I call my conviction stocks like rklb $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$, AMD, NVDA, ASTS, and BKSK. But the options in all these companies are extremely expensive, and their volatility is crazy. So to me the risk/reward is not there for me personally. I've just been adding stock
I think my next call options will be in $iren, I really like their management and their business model. But have not pulled the trigger yet. Also looking at $eose, but margins Are a huge issue there, so it's a mite, meaning I will likely accumulate the stock but not options.
Anyway that's my ten cents worth, feel Like 2025 has taught me heaps about options trading. I've made a lot and also lost and learned even more. So it's a win for me. May your sky's be blue and your trades be green my fellow tigers 😊
