On January 15, Reuters reported that the company agreed with Indigo Carbon to purchase a record 2.85 million soil carbon credits linked to regenerative agriculture in the US, with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) aiming to become carbon negative by 2030. This is despite increased emissions associated with AI. Becoming carbon negative means the company aims to make sure that it facilitates more removals of carbon than the amount its operations emit globally.
