SpaceX IPO Lands. Space Stocks Are Already Flying

SpaceX did not raise the price. That may be the signal.

$Space Exploration Technologies Corp(SPCX)$   has officially priced its blockbuster IPO at $135 per share, raising $75 billion and valuing the company at roughly $1.77 trillion.

SpaceX did not lift the final price above the level already floated to the market. Bulls may see that as a smart move that leaves room for a strong debut. Bears may argue that the valuation was already stretched enough. Either way, this is no longer just a SpaceX story. It has become a sector event.

Space stocks are already moving

The read-through showed up quickly in public space names. $Rocket Lab (RKLB.US)$ , $AST SpaceMobile (ASTS.US)$ , $Firefly Aerospace (FLY.US)$ and $Redwire (RDW.US)$ all rallied as investors searched for tradable ways to play the SpaceX debut before $SpaceX (SPCX.US)$ opens.

The logic is simple. If SpaceX becomes the new benchmark for the space economy, smaller listed names may get revalued around it.

Huge retail demand cuts both ways

Reported retail orders topped $100 billion, which is larger than the entire IPO fundraising size.

That is a powerful signal. SpaceX is not just attracting institutions. It has become a mass-market investing event. For day-one trading, that could support a strong open. Limited allocation plus heavy retail demand can push investors to chase shares in the open market.

But there is also a risk. When demand gets this loud before the first trade, expectations can become crowded. A big pop may fuel more momentum buying. A smaller pop may disappoint investors who expected a moonshot.

Wall Street is already split

The bullish case is clear. $SpaceX (SPCX.US)$ combines rockets, Starlink, satellite scale, government contracts and long-term AI ambitions. Oppenheimer started coverage with an Outperform rating and a $190 target, while New Street Research reportedly set a $165 target.

The cautious case is also clear. Morningstar has valued SpaceX far below the IPO valuation, arguing that the market may be giving too much credit to future businesses that are still uncertain.

That is the real debate. SpaceX may be a great company, but the stock still has to beat a very high starting valuation.

Summary

SpaceX's IPO is becoming a stress test for the entire space trade.

A steady final price may help the debut. Huge retail demand shows strong appetite. The rally in public space stocks shows investors are already positioning around the theme.
