📚 GDXU Trading Lessons: My 21–24 Sep Journey

One thing I’ve been learning from trading GDXU is that short-term trading is not simply about predicting whether the price will go up or down—it’s about managing entries, position size and exits. On 21 Sep, I started building a position gradually at $143, $137 and $134 instead of putting everything in at once. When GDXU dropped further on 22 Sep, I added 5 shares around $130 and later sold the 90-share position at $139.89, capturing about $160 gross profit from that cycle. On 23 Sep, I repeated the process with smaller positions, buying around $136.80 and $130, taking profit at $132, then re-entering around $129.60. On 24 Sep, I continued with short-term scalps, buying around the $130 area and taking profits around $131–$132. The visible completed trades produced approximately $270.70 gross realised profit before fees, with another 30 shares bought at $131.62 shown as an open position.

The biggest lesson for me is not to chase the price. Instead, I try to identify areas where the price has pulled back, enter in smaller batches, and take profits when the rebound gives me an acceptable opportunity. At the same time, GDXU is a 3× leveraged gold-miner ETF, so the same leverage that can accelerate gains can also accelerate losses. My focus is therefore on position sizing, disciplined entries, predefined exit levels and protecting capital. 📈

Trading is a process, not a guarantee of profit. These are my personal observations from my own trades, not financial advice.
