$Apple(AAPL)$  Making a phone thinner almost always hurts battery life, but Apple might be trying to solve that exact problem with its next ultra-thin device. A recent leak suggests the second-generation iPhone Air 2 will drop to a 5.2mm body while somehow squeezing in a higher-density battery that lasts longer than the first model. According to Korean leaker yeux1122, Apple is trimming 0.4 millimeters off the original 5.6mm frame. That brings the phone down to match an unfolded iPhone Duo and undercuts Samsung's 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge profile.

Instead of shrinking the battery pack to hit that thinner target, Apple is reportedly switching to new higher-density battery tech that tops the 3,149mAh cell found in the current iPhone Air. The phone is also expected to keep its titanium frame and use the smaller front notch coming to the iPhone 18 Pro. If those efficiency improvements translate to real-world use, the upcoming iPhone Air 2 won't just look sleeker. Apple aims to give users better daily battery life and more screen time than its thicker predecessor. Apple is also addressing another major complaint from the first generation: the camera setup. Buyers who paid flagship prices for the original model were disappointed to get just a single rear lens. For the sequel, Apple is reportedly adding a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera right next to the 48-megapixel main sensor.
