The recent correction across the AI and semiconductor sectors has given me another opportunity to accumulate more $Arm Holdings (ARM)$. Similar to my approach with SOXL, I see the latest weakness as an opportunity rather than a reason to panic. Market sentiment has turned increasingly negative as investors question whether massive AI capital expenditures can generate sufficient returns. The recent US midterm election results and concerns over potential Democratic policies towards AI development have added further uncertainty, triggering another wave of selling across technology stocks. However, I feel ARM has been caught up in this broader market pessimism, and the extent of its pullback looks excessive to me.
What makes me remain confident in ARM is its underlying business fundamentals and strategic position in the semiconductor industry. ARM is not simply another chip stock riding on the AI hype. Its energy-efficient CPU architecture is widely adopted across mobile devices, data centres, automotive applications and increasingly AI-related computing infrastructure. As AI workloads expand, the demand for efficient computing and power optimisation will become even more important. I believe ARM is well positioned to benefit from this long-term structural trend, particularly as the industry continues to move towards more powerful and energy-efficient computing platforms.
At the current price level, I consider ARM to be trading at a much more attractive discount compared with the expectations previously priced into the stock. Of course, I understand that ARM is not necessarily cheap based on traditional valuation metrics, and its premium valuation still leaves room for further downside if market sentiment deteriorates. However, I prefer to look beyond short-term price movements and focus on the company's long-term earnings potential, competitive advantages and growing relevance in the AI ecosystem. In my view, the recent selloff has created a more favourable entry opportunity for investors who are willing to take a longer-term perspective.
My strategy is to continue accumulating ARM gradually rather than trying to catch the exact bottom. I will keep some cash available in case further volatility creates even better opportunities. The AI investment cycle may experience periods of adjustment, and monetisation could take longer than the market initially expected, but I do not think this changes the importance of semiconductor architecture and computing efficiency in the long run. For me, this is about buying into a fundamentally strong business when market sentiment is weak. I would rather take advantage of reasonable discounts with discipline than chase the stock when optimism returns.
