🎁Spot BTC ETFs To Pick? Choose Companies or Consider Fees?

The quest for a spot bitcoin ETF in the US started in 2013 though initially rejected. SEC approval for bitcoin ETFs based on futures began in 2021.

$BlackRock(BLK)$ and Fidelity’s application for a spot bitcoin product gained momentum due to their influential positions in the US financial system.

All these efforts made the approval possible in 2024.

What are the advantages of spot Bitcoin ETF for retail investors?

  • It introduces additional regulatory safeguards, providing a more secure investment environment.

  • Investors gain the opportunity to invest through reputable financial institutions, adding a layer of credibility to the market.

  • This simplifies the investment process, as investors can hold the ETFs directly in their brokerage accounts.

However, SEC Chair Gensler has cautioned investors to carefully assess the associated risks before committing their funds to the product.

A giant market unfolds.

According to estimates from Bloomberg Intelligence, the spot bitcoin ETF market could grow to $100 billion over time.

ETF issuers are engaged in a price war.

In addition to fees, AUM is related to the liquidity of ETF. In other words, the ETF with poor liquidity may present arbitrage opportunities.

can I have the best of both worlds [Grin] [Grin] [Grin] wouldn't it be great to know it's a big company and they charge low fees... this way more people will tend to invest more as charges are more affordable...

    what about you darlings...

There are 11 approved bitcoin ETF funds now. The Bitcoin ETF issued by crypto-focused asset managers like Grayscale which is the biggest issuer of USD 28.58 Bln in AUM has the highest fee at 1.5%. Whereas the Bitwise Bitcoin ETFs (BITB) with the smallest AUM has the lowest expense ratio of all the funds, at 0.2%. Choose a ETF issued by a large company or choose a ETF with lower fees. Since some of the funds have waivers that forego all or part of the fees for a period of time, Investing in a bitcoin ETF carries risks, similar to investing in cryptocurrencies directly. The value of bitcoin is highly volatile.

in the first instance probably wait & see approach. fees do add up in the long run so it would make sense to choose a lower fee ETF. may also check if dividend is offered & how frequent. do your own due diligence my friends ✌️

🌟🌟🌟When it comes to choosing which Bitcoin ETF to invest in, it is important to consider several factors :

    1.  Fund Manager - is it a well known fund manager and what experience they have in managing the ETF.  Under this criteria, I like Blackrock as it is the world's largest fund manager.

    2. Expense ratio - the lower the expense ratio, the better.  In this criteria, Bitwise has the lowest at 0.20% and the fee is waived for the first 6 months

    3.  Liquidity - the size of the ETF and the amount of transactions - Bitwise has the largest inflow on opening day last Thursday.  But it is still early days.

So for me personally it is a close match between $Bitwise Bitcoin ETF(BITB)$ and $iShares Bitcoin Trust(IBIT)$ . IBIT has one of the lowest expense ratio at 0.25% and iShares is charging only 0.12% for the first 12 months.

So I will be closely monitoring these 2 Bitcoin ETFs to make my final decision.

I am happy that after 10 long years, the SEC has finally approved 11 Bitcoin ETFs.  It makes it so much easier and safer to invest in Bitcoin ETF rather than owning the asset directly.  This is just the nascent stage of Bitcoin ETF as I believe there will be other Cryptocurrency ETFs to follow.

Will have to have a balance but if i were to prioritise i will lean towards bigger companies especially since crypto is still not too stable yet. Bigger companies for more liquidity

I will simply chose the ETF with the lowest fees who I believe will manage the funds the best for future growth.
