So, over the last few days several companies I invest in have "diluted" shareholders. But as the emotional investor, I dive beneath the headlines of impending doom to uncover what's really going on.
First up was $Eos Energy Enterprises Inc.(EOSE)$. They recently announced a new capital raise and some commentators were quick to call it a significant dilution of shareholders. But was it? Actually NO! The new funds from the so called "dilution" will be used to repay funds from a previous capital raise, with a longer time horizon, and at significantly better interest rates. So it not bad, it's not a dilution, it's a financial restructure on way more favorable terms. Sadly fake news is rife. And I'm not sure who is worse. The people that write articles that are misleading, or the people that believe the misleading information.
Actually if you look at the pics below revenue and margins for EOS energy are looking great, and the "dilution" which I'd actually call a favorable capital restructure will just make everything better. So I'm buying.
Next up is $IREN Ltd(IREN)$. Another "dilution" or not. The stock tanked after the news came out Today. But they are also raising new notes to pay off old notes. And again, looks like on more favorable terms. so you guessed it... I'm buying more.
I truly Love it when people spout nonsense, and fail to understand the full implications of a deal. Looks like IREN has some capped calls in their deal too, so looks like a component Of the deal is more like a partial buyback over time rather than any form of dilution what so ever. To be fair though, I don't have all the details on the IREN deal yet, I do with EOSE. So not watching either, buying both.
Third up is $SoFi Technologies Inc.(SOFI)$. Ok from what I have read so far, this actually is a dilution. But, and this is a huge but... what sofi is doing with the money will significantly improve their business model. So let's oversimplify. if I owned 100 shares before the dilution, and I now own 50 shares after the dilution but make twice the money on the 50 shares I now own. Well, I'm kinda diluted. But am I any worse off? Actually, if the stock tanks I can buy more cheaper. So it's actually a win going forward.
So my fellow tigers, what do you think I'm doing with sofi? Ding ding, I'm buying more lol.
