🎄 Christmas Around the Corner: What's Your Year-End Break Plan?
With Christmas just a week away, many investors are gradually shifting into a year-end rhythm—slower trading, portfolio reviews, and a reset before the new year.
In Singapore, the festive atmosphere is already building:
Orchard / Tanglin Mall: Seasonal light displays and artificial snowfall
Marina Bay Sands: Christmas-themed installations with city skyline views
Jewel Changi Airport: Disney cruise–themed light and music shows, ideal for families
Holland Village: A more relaxed, casual option for a short evening break
At the same time, many choose to travel overseas during the Christmas—using the holiday to fully disconnect, recharge, and reflect on the year.
What’s your Christmas plan?
A️. Staying in Singapore for a low-key break
B️. Traveling overseas (short-haul or long-haul)
C️. Spending Christmas at home with family
D️. Not decided yet, staying flexible
🎯 Discussion:
Do you usually scale back trading activity around Christmas?
Prefer a complete reset, or light market monitoring during the holidays?
If you’re traveling, what’s your style: Asia getaway / Europe Christmas markets / beach escape?

From a markets perspective, I usually scale back my trading activity around Christmas. Liquidity tends to thin out, price action can be noisy & I find it more productive to use this period for portfolio review and reflection rather than active positioning. I still keep an eye on the market, but it’s more about monitoring risk than chasing opportunities.
For me, the year-end period is about resetting—reviewing what worked, what didn’t & setting a clearer framework for the new year. A calm Christmas in Singapore provides the right balance: staying connected to the market without being consumed by it, and recharging both mentally and strategically before January begins.

Christmas is a family affair as we head to church in the morning.
Then we head to my mother's house. This is where the real work begins - eating the glorious spread she prepares! It is a hilarious, loud and loving gathering of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Then this is followed by exchanging gifts and more laughter.
Beyond the gifts and gourmet food, Christmas for us is fundamentally about 2 things: Peace and Profound Gratitude.
It is a time to pause, count our blessings and cherish the simple incredible gift of being together in a safe country. This Christmas is about the quiet joy of family and peace in our hearts. 🥰🥰🎅🎅

Some prefer a complete reset, waiting until January to re-engage, while others opt for light market monitoring during the holidays, checking in occasionally to catch significant movements like the Santa Claus Rally and potentially benefit from them
Travel preferences vary, with some heading to Asia for a tropical getaway, others enjoying the festive atmosphere of European Christmas markets, and many choosing a beach escape for total relaxation。。。
During the year-end period, a light monitoring approach is preferred over a total blackout by setting price alerts instead of active day-trading, allowing for a holiday without constant screen time and ensuring market re-entry only if a strong, predefined move occurs

I actually find it amazing to see the news about how various asian countries have their currency strengthening, despite the chaos, specifically the Ringgit and the Baht. And news of various countries adjusting their expected growth upwards might hint at the adaptability of everyone
In reflection, it is depressing to know that we have lost USA as a true world leader for better or for worse...
Not doing much for trading, will just continue with my regular dca
2. Us markets are still trading over Christmas & actively trading
3. Travelling plans are to remain connected in Singapore to watch the us markets over the holidays
