Dr. Copper quietly made New All Time High
"This is not the end... it is not the beginning of the end. It is perhaps the end of the beginning..." (Winston Churchill, 10 Nov 1942
While everyone was debating and watching AI and some SpaceX, copper has in the middle of this week hits its ATH (All Time High)! Not a significant event for the retailers. It is one of the many commodities after all. In recent years, some members of this group have another name, known as “critical metals”. In another couple of years, perhaps they could be called “gemstones” for all I know.
People who have read my articles would know that I am fan of many of these “gems”, such as copper, silver, gold or platinum. Besides the reasons for the surge, I will shared some copper miners here for interest. Bear with me, I will use more pictures than words for this sharing.
It's called the Tariffs arbitrage. Traders are pulling in lots of copper to New York to front run suspected Trump's tariffs on copper! As a result, copper is in short supply in London. Remember last December a similar event happened for silver? Traders front run silver in anticipation of China's silver export ban? What happened next was a short-lived but surely silver price spike! Would the same thing happen to copper? [Surprised] [Doubt] [Thinking]
The 2nd on-going event for copper is well known but not many people cares about.
AI & Electrification Demand: AI data centers are huge copper consumers (a single center can use thousands of tons), with data center demand alone adding ~475,000 tonnes in 2026. This combines with EV and renewable energy demand to drive consumption.
Lastly, supply constraints. Many don't believe it. There's a deficit of 350,000 tonnes by 2027 if certain projections are to believe. If it didn't happen, it just means economy has collapsed or AI and other new energy builds have slowed down anyway... so for all those AI bulls out there, what would you rather believe. You can't have your cake 🍰 and eat it, or can you?
Below are quick shares of interesting copper miners (I am holding all except one - HBM) that I am holding for reference to take advantage of a highly possible new bullish run here.
Thought HAV is especially Interesting just from chart prospective. Look at the monthly chart above. Compare it to its daily chart below. Top shows possible cup formation, which might signal a new run after a possible brief correction (handle). Bottom chart just shows an uptrend of no tomorrow... how beautiful is that?
Lastly, how about this chart?
It is not all about copper... if industrial uses pushes up copper prices... what's next? Silver follows... in the next round! Believe it or not, silver run is coming back... a bottom has been formed (inverted head and shoulders). A short to middle term run appears to just started... tariffs on copper, if it's indeed true, silver won't be far behind.
Just thought of sharing... catch those runs while you still can... @Tiger_comments @Daily_Discussion @TigerStars

- jinglese·08-07 17:52I bought the copper move early, and yeah the tariff arb is the real fuel here. Silver probably follows, but copper still leads imoLikeReport
