🔥 FLAT INDEX. BIG ROTATION. WHERE DID THE MONEY GO?
Friday looked almost boring on the surface.
But underneath? Not so much.
It was quarterly triple witching — with index futures, index options and single-stock options expiring together — so volume and positioning were likely playing a bigger role than usual.
The headline indexes barely told the story. $Invesco QQQ(QQQ)$ gained around 0.6%, while the S&P 500 finished close to flat. But semiconductor stocks were much stronger, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up nearly 3%.
Meanwhile, several mega-cap names went the other way:

🔻 $Apple(AAPL)$ -0.3%
That divergence is what caught my attention.
When the index is flat but semiconductors are ripping while mega-caps are selling off, the market isn’t necessarily indecisive.
It may simply be rotating.
And that raises a more interesting question:
Are investors moving away from crowded mega-cap winners and back toward higher-beta areas of the AI/semiconductor trade?
Or was Friday mostly triple-witching mechanics that shouldn’t be overinterpreted?
