’s post-earnings reaction, but it is unlikely to outweigh production, realized oil prices, cash flow and forward guidance. ** The market appears to expect the $10B gross-debt objective to be reached in ** Q4 2026, so a Q3 update that confirms the trajectory is more likely to support the shares than create a major surprise.

OXY reports after the close on 2026-11-09 . Current Q3 consensus is $1.456 EPS , $6.78B revenue , and $2.31B EBIT .

Why the debt update matters

At 2026Q2, OXY reported:

$12.80B long-term debt plus roughly $0.58B current debt , or approximately $13.38B gross debt .

$4.15B cash , implying approximately $9.23B net debt . This is not interchangeable with the company’s apparent gross-debt $10B objective.

Gross debt fell by $1.69B , or 11.19% , from approximately $15.07B at 2026Q1.

Q2 operating cash flow was $4.27B and capex was $1.66B , leaving approximately $2.61B before financing and shareholder distributions.

That leaves about $3.38B of gross debt to retire to reach $10B. At the Q2 pace, that represents about two quarters of comparable reductions—consistent with an expected Q4 completion rather than a Q3 finish.

Debt path looks clear, but Q3 production and cash flow guidance will do more for the reaction than a debt check-in. The $3.38B gap already feels pretty well understood
