$Broadcom(AVGO)$  Broadcom’s $16.7B AI Engine Faces a Margin Test — Is the ASIC Trade Still Attractive? Broadcom’s AI business is no longer a “future opportunity.” It is already a $16.7 billion quarterly business. The harder question now is whether Broadcom can turn that explosive ASIC growth into equally strong profit and free cash flow growth. That distinction could become increasingly important for AVGO investors. The AI numbers are getting difficult to ignore Broadcom’s fiscal Q3 AI semiconductor revenue reached $16.7B, up 221% year over year and 54% sequentially. Management expects another acceleration in Q4, with AI semiconductor revenue guided to $21.7B, up 236% YoY. Broadcom is also forecasting roughly $58B of AI semiconductor revenu

The ASIC Inflection Point: Broadcom’s Q3 2026 Earnings and the Margin Resilience Test

Broadcom’s fiscal Q3 2026 earnings report delivered a paradox that defines the current phase of the artificial intelligence hardware boom. AI semiconductor revenue skyrocketed 221% year-over-year to $16.7 billion, accounting for over 56% of total revenue. Yet, despite this blistering top-line acceleration, Broadcom shares experienced notable pullbacks due to investor anxiety over gross margin compression. In this article, we would like to share an analysis which would explore whether the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) trade is facing a structural transition. 1. Introduction: The Q3 2026 Paradox For years, Wall Street’s narrative regarding the generative AI infrastructure buildout was dominated by general-purpose graphics processing units. However, fiscal Q3 2026 marked a de

It’s whether Broadcom can build a durable business around customers designing increasingly specialised AI infrastructure. And the cash flow is worth watching.

AVGO: $16.7B AI Revenue — But Can Margins Keep Up?

$Broadcom(AVGO)$ AI business is getting too big to ignore. AI semiconductor revenue reached $16.7B in Q3, up an incredible 221% YoY and 54% sequentially. Broadcom expects another jump to $21.7B in Q4, up 236% YoY. But here’s the part I’m watching more closely: Margins. Broadcom’s overall gross margin fell 210 basis points sequentially to 75%, partly because AI semiconductors are becoming a much larger part of the business. AI revenue now represents 56% of total revenue, compared with 49% in Q2. At first glance, that sounds like a problem. But operating margin tells a different story. It actually increased to 67.9%, up 240 basis points YoY, while non-GAAP EPS nearly doubled to $3.32. So the debate isn’t really whether Broadcom can grow revenue.
