My Q1 24 Portfolio Review - The Best Performing Stocks/ETFs

🌟🌟🌟The S&P 500 Index gained 10% in Q1 24, its best start to the Year since 2019, hitting 22 record closing highs.  The rally was broad based with 10 out of 11 sectors rising and more than half of the Index's stocks reaching new highs.  Similarly my portfolio has also risen with the markets. My US portfolio has performed rather well  in comparison to my Singapore portfolio.  The best performing ETF is $Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLE)$ which is up 63%.  This is due to the geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.  The latest hot spot is the Iran Israeli tensions.   Oil prices have climbed in recent weeks.  Brent Crude oil has risen more than 20% since December.  XLE ETF

[1Q24 Portfolio Update] Riding the Bull Market To New Highs

Hey there, fellow investors! It's been a minute since my last update, but I couldn't resist sharing some insights on how my portfolio has been performing lately and what's on the horizon. So, let's dive in! Portfolio Performance Check-In: Straight to the point – my investments have been chugging along nicely, keeping pace with big shots like the S&P and Nasdaq. We're looking at a solid 10.1% return year-to-date. Not bad, right? Sure, it's a tad shy of the S&P's 10.7% and Nasdaq's 9.41%, but hey, it's all about the journey, isn't it? Winners and Losers: Now, let's talk winners and losers. On the bright side, shoutout to $Micron Technology(MU)$ $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$

For instance, with my PLTR shares initially acquired at a cost of $22.20, I strategically sold in-the-money calls. First three months of 2024 are definitely a good start of the year! My portfolio is profitable overall and better than expected, except for Tesla  [Cry] I am very optimistics about bank-related stocks since they perform quite well! $American Express(AXP)$ My overall cash flow is OK as my investment strategy is DCA but not panic buying/ selling [Cool] One lesson I learned so far is always not FOMO, especially with the AI hype right now, most investors would chase high on the AI-related stocks and eventually fail to take profit/stop loss. My upcoming strategy will be continuing DCA US ETF and also ETF from emerging markets! Cheers!

Let's delve into the successes, challenges, and strategies that have shaped the past three months. **Heading 2: Stock Performance** The first quarter saw notable fluctuations in the stock market. For instance, my investments in insurance stocks, like Prudential, surged from $100 to $118, accompanied by a gratifying $1.30 dividend yield  **Heading 3: Options Trading Ventures** Engaging in options trading brought both triumphs and setbacks. While my Manulife covered call contracts were called away, resulting in profit realization, I also experienced successful

the first three months in 2024 was outstanding. it has been a long time i hv not had such a feeling. the investment sentiment just like the year of 2009. indeed, since year 2014, my investment is hoovering downwards, making lossess more than profit. this year, just like the beginning of 2009, my investment made a big bang. i even made a few fortune from ipo. the US share market is very high now, yet i continue to make profit. the only underperforming of my investment is singapore market, which i am considering to swap them to US shares. i would like the good fortune to continue in the coming 4 to 5 years, repeating my strong performance in 2009-2014.

Replying to @IAS:An intersting start to the year - a few lessons including how ever much you think the results are going to move the price at reporting season its tricky and hanging in or selling 50% is probably better than jumping ship. i would still be creating stop losses after 10 % gains on all positions. [Sly]//@IAS:My first Quarter in 2024 is slightly better than last year’s first Quarter. So that’s a good thing. Still I’m lagging behind my original plan, so i did not make more than expected. So far I’ve learned to be more patient this year whether as an investor or trader. I’m looking forward to my portfolio progress for the rest of the year.

dear  @TigerEvents , thank you for the event! Q1 2024 has been kind to me, mostly due to semicon stocks. I think there is further upside, especially with South Korea reporting its highest chip exports so far in 14 years, we should see more earnings beat among semicon firms. Plus the market has run up following expectations of a rate cut in 2nd half of 2024. With the Fed signaling further cuts in 2025, hopefully the rally can continue.

So, my first quarter in the stock market was quite a ride! Investing in stocks like NVIDIA and Amazon felt solid, you know? They kept churning out those gains, showing why they're the big players in tech. And then there's Archer Aviation, which gave me a taste of the future with sustainable transportation – it's exciting stuff. Palantir Technologies, though, was a bit of a rollercoaster with its ups and downs, but hey, that's part of the game. Overall, it was a learning experience that's got me pumped for what's next in my investment journey.
