Reimagining the Defense Industry:  Future proofing advanced military systems is a top priority for governments, requiring specialised software and hardware .  These include sensors, AI chips and high performance processing and networking solutions.

Dividends are paid every 6 months.  The current dividend yield is 0.37%.  SHLD will go ex dividend on December 30 2025 with a payment date on January 7 2026.

SHLD Performance and Momentum :

Even though SHLD is down 2.8% in the past week, it has risen an impressive 73.3% year todate and 65.9% in the past 12 months.

Wall Street Analysts Rating :

According to Tipranks, SHLD has buy rating with  an average target price of USD 73.73 derived from the consensus of 43 Wall Street Analysts .  That is an upside potential of 14%.

Concluding Thoughts 

The Global X Defense Tech ETF is my tactical bet on the fast growing Defense sector .  In a world with geopolitical tensions and uncertainty, I wanted exposure to defense innovation , cybersecurity, autonomous systems and  military modernisation .  SHLD gave me that and much more.

I am currently up 71% and happy with SHLD's performance.  SHLD is  a quiet shield in my portfolio.    It is a low cost , diversified way to invest in the future of Defense Technology without a huge capital outlay and much cheaper than buying individual stocks.
