SPX TOP 15 Earnings Rally: CVNA +15.68% — Which Winners Can Keep Running?

Hey Tigers!🐯

A 15.68% jump in Carvana and double-digit gains in cruise lines and defence stocks make a lively earnings leaderboard. But the biggest one-day winner is not automatically the strongest next-quarter opportunity.

My take: L3Harris, Lilly and NXP deserve the closest fundamental follow-up. Carvana offers stronger growth momentum with greater price risk. Norwegian, Chipotle and MGM still need to prove that operating improvement can turn into durable earnings.

1 | When Did the Earnings Actually Arrive?

Data as Oct29th 2026, Source Tiger Brokers.

For TSCO and TPR, a specific independent catalyst for the October 29 advance was not established. For IR, the fresh release belongs to the after-close information set.

My filter: first identify the catalyst; then separate repeatable operating improvement from accounting benefits, capital returns and expectations. A daily gain measures price reaction, not the durability of earnings.

2 | Growth Winners: Volume Matters, Margins Decide

Carvana | CVNA +15.68%

Q3 revenue reached $8.04B, up 42%, as retail units grew 39% to approximately 217,000. Adjusted EBITDA was $800M. Management expects sequential retail-unit growth in Q4 and full-year adjusted EBITDA toward the higher end of its $2.7B–$3.0B range.

My outlook: The rally has an operating foundation: volume growth and profitability rose together. Over one to three months, I expect momentum to remain sensitive to the next volume and margin update. Slower growth or weaker unit economics could trigger profit-taking after the sharp repricing.

Norwegian | NCLH +13.45%

Q3 revenue was $2.9B and adjusted EPS was $1.12. Results exceeded company guidance; full-year adjusted EPS guidance rose to about $1.70. However, Q4 guidance still calls for an adjusted loss of about $0.12 per share and a roughly 6.5% decline in Net Yield. Net leverage was 5.5x at quarter-end.

My outlook: This looks more like a recovery reassessment than a completed turnaround. My base case is a volatile rebound. Sustained upside needs better pricing, bookings and deleveraging; another weaker yield outlook would undermine the rally.

Chipotle | CMG +8.88%

Revenue rose 9.6% to $3.3B, comparable sales grew 2.1%, and transactions increased 0.8%. Yet adjusted EPS fell 6.9% to $0.27, while restaurant-level operating margin slipped from 24.5% to 23.3%. Management maintained low-single-digit full-year comparable-sales growth expectations.

My outlook: Traffic improvement supports a recovery narrative, but margins have not confirmed it. I expect a choppier path unless stronger traffic starts producing operating leverage. Watch transaction growth together with labour costs.

3 | Defence & Aerospace: Orders Must Become Cash

Huntington Ingalls | HII +13.23%

Q3 revenue reached $3.5B; diluted EPS was $5.48. New contract awards totalled $32.4B. The company raised its FY26 shipbuilding revenue range to $10.5B–$10.7B, while maintaining shipbuilding operating-margin guidance of 6.0%–6.5% and its free-cash-flow outlook.

My outlook: Contracts provide visibility, but execution determines the earnings. I lean constructive over coming quarters if deliveries and margins hold up. The unchanged margin and cash outlook is a reason to avoid extrapolating the entire share-price jump.

Textron | TXT +11.67%

Revenue rose 4% to $3.8B; adjusted EPS increased to $1.76 from $1.55. FY26 adjusted EPS guidance rose to $6.55–$6.65 from $6.40–$6.60, and manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions was raised to $800M–$900M from $700M–$800M.

My outlook: The improved cash outlook strengthens the investment case. I expect further upside to depend on aircraft deliveries, manufacturing efficiency and MV-75 execution. The stock move is larger than the EPS-midpoint upgrade, so delivery evidence matters.

L3Harris | LHX +6.84%

Revenue rose 7% to $6.1B. Orders reached $19.3B and backlog $53.2B, with a 3.2x book-to-bill ratio. Quarterly free cash flow was $1.3B. FY26 GAAP EPS guidance increased to $12.25–$12.35 from $11.80–$12.00; full-year free-cash-flow guidance remained $3B.

My outlook: Among the visible winners, this has one of the clearer combinations of demand visibility and cash generation. I lean positive over three to six months if backlog converts on schedule. Long-dated awards still carry production and timing risk.

4 | The Stronger Growth Cases — and a Deal Twist

Eli Lilly | LLY +6.63%

Q3 revenue increased 39% to $24.4B, primarily driven by Mounjaro and Zepbound. Full-year revenue guidance rose to $91B–$92B. Q3 included approximately $900M of favourable revenue items, while acquired R&D charges affected both GAAP and non-GAAP EPS.

My outlook: Core demand supports the outlook, but normalised growth and valuation deserve separate checks. At $1,373.70, the shares trade at about 38.7x the $35.50 midpoint of reported FY26 non-GAAP EPS guidance. I expect further upside to require continued demand strength or higher earnings expectations.

NXP | NXPI +5.69%

The October 27 release showed revenue of $3.79B, up 19%; non-GAAP EPS of $4.20; and free cash flow of $1.21B. The board authorised an additional $5B repurchase programme. Automotive and industrial growth contributed, alongside momentum in data-centre infrastructure.

My outlook: I lean constructive if growth and cash conversion persist. Repurchase capacity supports capital returns but does not guarantee execution. Inventory, automotive demand and customer orders remain the next tests.

DoorDash | DASH +5.61%

Q3 orders rose 28%, revenue increased 34% to $4.6B and adjusted EBITDA grew 41% to $1.06B. The company also agreed to acquire Instacart for $65 per share, payable in at least 75% cash and up to 25% DoorDash stock. These were premarket catalysts.

My outlook: Operating growth gives the rally substance, but the acquisition changes the valuation debate. Over three to six months, I expect investors to weigh growth against financing, regulatory review and integration costs. Announced synergies are not realised earnings.

5 | Five More Names: What Could Keep Them Moving?

TSCO +6.45%

Oct 22: sales +5.1% to $3.91B; comparable sales +0.4%; EPS $0.43; FY outlook reaffirmed.

My outlook: Modest comparable growth needs acceleration. The specific Oct 29 catalyst remains unverified.

IR +6.04%

Oct 29 after close: organic orders +18%; organic revenue about +4%. Adjusted EPS $1.07, or $1.01 excluding tariff refunds.

My outlook: Constructive order pipeline; assess earnings without refunds. This release did not cause the preceding regular-session gain.

TPR +5.93%

Next earnings scheduled for Nov 5. FY26 revenue was about $8.0B.

My outlook: An upcoming test, not a fresh earnings beat. Watch Coach sales, margins and the FY27 outlook.

VMC +5.78%

Revenue $2.185B vs $2.292B; adjusted EBITDA $707M vs $735M; adjusted EBITDA margin 32.3% vs 32.1%.

My outlook: Margin resilience is encouraging; volumes and earnings growth need to confirm a stronger trend. Divestitures affect comparisons.

MGM +5.72%

MGM China revenue +5%; quarterly market share 17.1%. Management described a favourable October rebound in Las Vegas and highlighted buyback flexibility.

My outlook: Constructive recovery case, conditional on room rates and cash flow. The catalyst includes capital allocation as well as results.

6 | Price Scenarios: What Is Already Priced In?

My three-to-six-month view favours selective follow-through over a uniform continuation of every winner. The following valuation sensitivity translates explicit EPS inputs and assumed P/E multiples into dollar prices. These are editorial cases, not broker targets, statistical forecasts or implied trading ranges. No probabilities are assigned.

7 | What Would Make Me More Bullish — or Change My Mind?

Data as Oct29th 2026, Source Tiger Brokers.

For LHX, the base case is a broadly stable valuation with earnings execution; the bull case needs a higher premium for delivery confidence. For Lilly, a base-case rerating is modest because the current price already embeds a substantial earnings multiple. For NXP, the range is particularly sensitive to whether one strong quarter represents a sustainable run-rate.

CVNA: watch the post-results trading structure

CVNA closed October 29 at $68.31, with a session high of $69.23 and low of $63.81. A sustained move above $69.23 would strengthen the short-term momentum case; a break below $63.81 would weaken it. Those are observed session extremes used as reference levels, not guaranteed resistance or support.

Over six to twelve months, I would give more weight to repeatable cash generation than the first-day gain. The strongest next update is one that improves the earnings outlook without requiring an ever-higher valuation multiple.

My pick is L3Harris (LHX), not because it delivered the biggest rally, but because its earnings quality looks more sustainable.

CVNA has impressive momentum, with revenue up 42%. However, used-car economics are cyclical, and maintaining margins will be challenging.

LLY has the strongest structural growth story, driven by obesity and diabetes treatments. But at nearly 39x FY26 earnings, expectations are already demanding.

LHX offers a better balance between growth visibility and financial discipline. Its $53.2B backlog, 3.2x book-to-bill ratio and $1.3B quarterly free cash flow provide tangible support.

My strategy is to accumulate LHX gradually on weakness rather than chase the rally. The key metric I would watch is free cash flow conversion. Orders create expectations, but cash generation creates shareholder value.

I would back $LHX for the next quarter. CVNA has impressive volume growth and LLY continues to benefit from strong weight-loss drug demand, but LHX offers something particularly attractive: long-term revenue visibility.

Its Q3 backlog reached a record $53.2 billion, up 47% year-on-year, with a 3.2x book-to-bill ratio. Free cash flow also increased 195% to $1.3 billion, giving the growth story more financial support.

I would consider buying a pullback after the earnings rally, rather than chasing the initial price reaction. My key trigger would be backlog conversion into revenue and free cash flow. A large backlog is encouraging, but it only creates shareholder value if contracts translate into profitable delivery.

For me, the combination of strong order growth, improving cash generation and raised earnings guidance makes LHX the most convincing of the three right now.

CVNA can run, but used unit economics matter more than the 15.68% pop. If GPU stays healthy while CarMax does not force pricing, the move has legs.

15.68% pop is loud, but low IV plus slowing growth feels shaky. For next quarter I'd back LLY over CVNA; revenue durability matters more than squeeze vibes
